Rate Limits
What usage limits apply to Phanes and how they work.
To ensure fair usage and prevent abuse, Phanes implements rate limits.
- Each user has a limit on how frequently they can use commands.
- Some commands have their own limits — a heavier command allows fewer calls than a light one.
- Limits apply per user, and a few things change them:
- Anonymous group admins are limited more strictly again. Telegram sends every anonymous admin's message as the same bot account, so Phanes cannot tell them apart. Turning off anonymous mode gives you your own, more generous allowance.
- A group or user can be given raised limits, arranged with the team.
- We don't publish the exact thresholds. Normal use never reaches them.

#Adaptive System
Phanes uses an intelligent adaptive system that adjusts based on usage patterns:
- Users who frequently hit rate limits get longer cooldowns.
- Each further violation in a short window makes the next timeout longer, up to a ceiling.
- The escalation is forgotten after a stretch of normal use, and cooldowns return to the shortest step.
- Users who consistently trigger rate limits may be permanently restricted from using Phanes.
- Using any form of automation on Phanes may result in your account or group being banned.
Telegram also enforces its own limits, separate from ours. In a very busy chat it may briefly delay or skip a message — that is Telegram, not Phanes, and it clears on its own.
